Root Canals in Boca Raton, FL
The prospect of a root canal fills many people with sheer dread. However, root canals no longer have to be dreadful, especially not if they’re done by Dr. Alfred Huber of the Reserve Dental Group!
A root canal is really a simple operation. It’s only done when a tooth has become infected and is in danger of being lost. During the procedure, the area around the tooth is numbed and the infected pulp and nerves in the tooth are removed. The canals where the pulp was, called root canals, are carefully scraped out with special, tiny brushes and eventually filled with gutta percha. This makes sure that the area is never infected again. After that, the tooth is reshaped. Dr. Huber might seal the tooth right away, let the tooth drain or place some medicine in the tooth before the gutta percha is installed.
Though the patient might feel some discomfort temporarily after the operation, the discomfort can be controlled with pain medications prescribed by Dr. Huber. These often include over the counter medications that don’t even need a prescription. Dr. Huber might also prescribe antibiotics for the patient to get rid of any lingering infection. The patient will then need to have follow-up visits to make sure that all is well with the root canal procedure and to get a crown placed on the tooth if necessary.
Dr. Huber has 20 years of experience as a dentist and is always learning the newest technology available for all of the latest advances in dental care. This includes making patients as comfortable as possible. He not only performs root canal therapy, but CEREC One Day Crowns, Invisalign and other orthodontics, porcelain veneers, dental implants, teeth whitening and other forms of cosmetic dentistry.
